Meet our farmers

The Scott Family

Ripley, Ontario, New Entrant Farmers, District 1

Having first joined the chicken industry in 2019 through the CFO New Entrant Chicken Farmer Program, Joe and Erin Scott – along with their three children – are excited to be a part of the business and grow their farming operation, Smokey Hollow Farms, with their family. Already operating a cash crop business, Joe and Erin applied to the New Entrant Program in 2019 as an opportunity to teach their kids about the different aspects of the agricultural industry in Ontario.

The Scott family completed their broiler barn construction in mid-2020 and were excited to raise their first broiler chicken crop in November 2020!

The Westbrook Family

Clinton, Ontario, Core Farmers, District 2

Zach Westbrook and his father Brian have been passionate Ontario chicken farmers for more than twenty years, having joined the industry in 1998 by transitioning their dairy farm into a chicken farming operation.

Zach and Brian continue to run the farm together, along with Zach’s wife, Kaitie. They love sharing the joys of farming with Zach and Kaitie’s son, Owen – whether that be taking him for a ride in the combine to harvest their crops or walking the barn together to check on the chicks – and teaching him how to raise Premium Ontario Chicken with passion and care!

The Arnold Family

London, Ontario, Artisanal Chicken Farmers, District 3

Lindsey and Al Arnold always dreamed of living on a farm and raising their children with the space to explore and enjoy nature. After purchasing a family farm in 2017, the Arnold’s were able to achieve their goal, starting with small scale laying hen farming operation that has since grown to beef, pork, and – through the CFO Artisanal Chicken program – chicken! As Artisanal Chicken farmers, the Arnold’s are thrilled to be providing their local community with safe, healthy, high-quality chicken.

The Wight Family

The Wight Family

Mitchell, Ontario, Core Farmers, District 8

The Wight family - Cheryl, John and their children - were excited to join the chicken industry in 2017 when they built a new broiler barn on John’s home farm, Wight Acres Inc. Having grown up around agriculture, Cheryl and John fell in love with all things farming from an early age – a broiler chicken barn seemed like the perfect next step for their family. The Wights enjoy working closely with everyone involved in the chicken industry, from the hatcheries to the processors and, of course, growing high-quality chicken!

The Wight family looks forward to expanding Wight Acres Inc. in the near future!
