Meet Our Farmers

The Brenneman Family

Tavistock, Ontario, Core Chicken Farmers, District 3

The Brenneman Family – Mark, Amanda, Emma, Drew, and Bailey – farm just outside of Tavistock where they transitioned from dairy to chicken farming. The Brennemans are passionate about chicken farming together, and all three Brenneman children are pursuing and desire a career in agriculture. Mark and Amanda love to see their children explore what they are passionate about while also bringing ideas home for expansion and agriculture business diversity.

When building their second barn in 2017, the Brennemans learned about options for improvements in air quality and energy recourse efficiency that would lead to increased health benefits for their chicks. So, they decided to install evaporative cooling cells with tunnel ventilation for quicker cool down of barns in the summer months - and two propane furnaces with forced air heating tubes for more controlled humidity.

The Hutching Family

Pefferlaw, Ontario, Artisanal Chicken Farmers, District 1

The Hutching Family – Kevin, Sandra and their four children – have a small farm located in Pefferlaw. The Hutching family decided to get into the chicken business when they noticed an increase demand for locally raised chicken. However, it is not only chickens on the farm, they also raise lamb, pork, eggs, and grow seasonable vegetables. Pasture raised chickens were the perfect fit for their busy family farm! The Hutchings favourite part about farming is being able to interact with their customers and hear the positive feedback about their chicken and growing methods.

The Woods Family

Mitchell, Ontario, Core Chicken Farmers, District 8

The Woods Family – Chris, Sara and their son, Logan – farm just north of Mitchell, Ontario. The Woods family is no stranger to farming when they got into the chicken business to diversify their already busy farming operation. The Woods love to give back to their community, and that’s why their favourite part of chicken farming is knowing that they are helping to raise the highest quality food for their fellow Ontarians.
